Unfortunately, it happens time and time again that people fall victim to acts of violence and/or discrimination because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The majority of incidents are verbal abuse or threats. Sometimes, however, there are also acts of physical violence.

Are you a victim or witness of discrimination? Did you experience, hear, or see an anti-LGBTIQ hate crime (insulted, spat at, pushed, attacked, injured etc.)?

Please report all incidents (past incidents included) to us. Our advisers will help you process it and can, if needed, refer you to specialists for victims of violence or search therapists for you.

Meaningful hate crime prevention is only possible if the incidents are reported to the police. We will be happy to accompany you and will support you in every step.

Do you feel uncomfortable or scared about going to the police?

This fear is understandable but unfounded in most cases. Many police officers today are well sensitised to anti-LGBTIQ hate crimes. You can turn to us if you’re unsure, about what to do or if you have any reservations about going to the police. We will try to advise you on your possibilities in this special case and where you can go. What to do in case of an attack?

  1. Get yourself to safety
    Leave the dangerous area as soon as possible
     

  2. Accept help & get help
    Get help and the necessary medical treatment
     

  3. Call police & ambulance
    Contact emergency services on 117
     

  4. Witnesses!
    Ask witnesses to remain on site and collect evidence
     

  5. Note appearance of offenders
    Remember the physical appearance of the offenders and the direction in which they fled

Emergencies

Our phone and e-mail consultations are not suitable for emergencies. If you have just experienced anti-LGBTIQ violence or are otherwise currently experiencing an emergency, please contact the police by calling 117. As soon as you are safe and have received medical attention (if necessary) we will be happy to help you. If you have experienced anti-LGBTIQ violence, please report the incident to us, even if you do not wish to have a consultation. This way, we will be able to include it in our statistics.
